In the early morning hours of April 2nd, we decide to visit the Chilean consulate, throwing leaflets, paint bombs, and painting the building of the consulate. We demand the immediate release of the compas kidnapped by the Chilean state since August 14th. We also wished to inform the people around the area and to show solidarity against the injustice everywhere and to continue the struggle.

Dear friends and comrades,

It makes us happy to speak again with each of you and express our love. We hope that
each of you find yourself well with your partners, with your children, with your
family. We hope that this terrible year has not damaged you too much, that it hasn’t
paralyzed your decision to live a free life, communally, and without injustices. All
of us, Manuel, Luisa, Ana Luisa, Tamara Sol, have stayed together and have been
helping each other not to fall in the face of so many atrocities committed against
so many of us, men and women who have continued to be persecuted by this system and
who now are in the dungeons of punishment solely because of a way of life, free from
hierarchy, which has made them dangerous to those whom govern this country. The same
has happened to our brothers, the Mapuche people.

We would like to bring up the assassination of our children Eduardo and Rafael,
because we know that many of us still don’t have a clear idea of what happened in
the end. The truth is that the miserable assassins were convicted.

Jorge Marin Jimenez was sentenced to 10 years and a day, for being the gunman who
killed Rafael. Alex Amber Hinojosa and Francisco Toledo Puente were sentenced to 7
years and a day. Supposedly they have been prisoners at Punta Pueco since September
of 2010.

We as family do not want to condone this sentence by accusing it of not being enough
time or not in accordance to the crimes committed. In comparison to the severity of
the sentences handed down against us, these criminals should be incarcerated for
life, but it’s not like that.

What we want to recognize from this fact is that we can arrive at this point thanks
to a permanent struggle we have created with all of you over the past 20 years,
along with the support from the human rights lawyers. This comforts us, and gives us
the strength to carry on, because we know the 29th of March belongs to the youth
combatants that today fight for a dignified life, free and just.

We stand with the young rebels who do not falter in front of the threats and
punishment but go out with their voices and spirits high, searching for different
ways to bury the permanent humiliation that we have suffered due to the state, a
system designed to crush us and make us disappear. We also herald new periods of
struggle and dignity, which tell us: Let’s go comrades! From this point we have to
continue!

We will continue to support and act in solidarity with them, feeding their strength
and bravery, their dignity and love!

There is much to do and all of the fallen and imprisoned require us to continue
despite the weariness in our bodies and souls. We have as an example the comrades
who are imprisoned in the COF, the women there have created a beautiful journal
inside, and with this we challenge everyone we meet outside, in “freedom,” to do
something, to denounce, to fight so our houses are not converted into true prisons
of passivity and conformity. Comrades, everyone can get their punches in!

We leave each one of you with a fraternal embrace and assurance that we are living
“in some plaza, in some street, in some march…”

The Day of the Young Combatant in Santiago kicked off in the early morning hours of March 29th.

Activity in Villa Francia:

In Villa Francia in the community of Central Station, an event with music and videos occurred in honor of all our fallen comrades who have died in combat, also Luisa Toledo and Manuel Veragara (mother and father of Eduardo and Rafael) talked about death of their children and that this date (March 29) is in remembrance of all the youth who died fighting for freedom and how important it is to support comrades in prison.

After more than 200 people marched screaming the names of fallen comrades (Eduardo and Rafael Veragara, Paul Vergara, Aracely Romo, Claudia Lopez, Jonny Cariqueo, Matias Catrileo, Mauricio Morales, etc.) Moving down the street April 5, after a few blocks, to the street October 7, the first clashes occurred when police used tear gas to try to disperse people but were met with stones and Molotov cocktails, barricades were also erected. The press tried to hide behind the police but they were also attacked. After fighting continued in Villa Francia. (More photos at the end).

In other populations of Santiago:

Around 22:00 in Villa Colon, in the community of San Bernardo, a dozen youth began to attack journalists and their vehicles with stones, to which the police responded with tear gas to try to disperse the riot. In several places, youths erected barricades and clashed with the police. During the protests gunshots were heard.

In Concepcion, south of $hile:

The first incident took place in General Bonilla avenue, where unknown individuals burned a backhoe, belonging to the company Ideco, which had been in the street due to repairs. The fire had been started by three people who poured combustibles on the machine and set it on fire, then fled the scene.

At another point in the area, a group composed of unknown people lit tires on fire as barricades at Puente Perales in Talcahuano.

In both cases there were no arrests.

Power Outages:
Near midnight, several sectors of Santiago were without power, the product of chains thrown to the electrical cables. In the area of ​​Villa Francia in Central Station, in the areas of Renca, also Peñalolen, Huechuraba and San Bernardo.

Attacks on Transantiago buses:
In the community of Renca about 10 encapuchadxs used a gun to get the bus driver to come down from the bus. Then they poured gasoline inside it and set the bus on fire. The bus, corresponded to the route 408 and is completely burned.

A second bus was attacked with fire at the intersection of Infante and Las Torres, in the community of Peñalolén. There people threw a burning mattresses against the bus which caused some damage but the machine was not completely destroyed.

Arrests:

The government took preventative measures to halt the protests this year they had provided an additional 2,000 cops to contain areas where disturbances occur frequently for the Day of the Young Combatant.

As a result of all the protests in Santiago 97 people were arrested, charged with disorders, some severe disorders, possession of incendiary material and possession of weapons. All the arrestees spent the night in the police stations and, today, March 30th, there arraignments were held at the “Justice Center” of Santiago where the judge gave out the punishments.

Of all of the arrestees, two people were accused of carrying Molotov cocktails. One from the community of Renca and another from Villa Francia, Central Station.

According to police after the arson attack on the Renca transantiago bus there were two people arrested, a 25 year old and a child under 16 years old, according to the cops they had a “smelled strongly of gas” and “were recognized by the driver of the bus” which doesn’t make sense because the people who set fire to the bus were masked up.

Also, 4 people were arrested in other regions.

During the night helicopters and police cars (tanks with tear gas and water guns, buses, etc..) patrolled the areas where the riots had happened. The fighting continued into the early morning hours.

Reactions:

Meanwhile the government via Rodrigo Hinzpeter (Interior Minister), stated to the press, that this March 29 was one of the quietest to have occurred in years, then thanking the police for their work. But how much information was hidden? How many roadblocks and clashes were not mentioned? How many police cars were damaged from the fighting? How many cops were injured? Because nobody believes that any policeman was hit by stones or molotovs, those cops who failed to run and the cops who fell behind the group in into the hands of young protesters.

Through this e-mail, we claim responsibility for the explosion that took place on Friday, March 11 at a location next to the Television studios on San Cristóbal hill. Said action was painstakingly and prophetically covered on Sunday, March 13 by El Mercurio, as is their custom, as an explosion related to the judicial decision extending Pablo Morales’ preventive detention period. Nothing could be further from the truth. The reason for Friday night’s bomb detonation was to send a message to one of the pillars of the system of domination: the official press, specifically television. We haven’t forgotten how those representatives of power insulted us. Especially cruel was TVN’s Special Report, which showed comrade Mauricio Morales’ lifeless body and has become the mouthpiece for Prosecutor Peña and his mob. In case they haven’t already realized it, that’s the reason why the press was attacked during the last September 11 march, with special attention given to TVN’s mobile reporting unit. To us, the situation is not settled, and we will no doubt have many more encounters with those reporter-cops. Additionally, March 11 marked the first year of the Piñera government, which represents a strengthened alliance of Capitalist and State interests, the likes of which Chilean history hasn’t seen before. Clearly, the haute bourgeoisie no longer needs the military or the hack politicians of the concertación.

The intent of our action was to neither help nor hinder the situation of anticapitalist prisoners. We think that would be impossible. Nevertheless, while we recognize those prisoners as part of a wide anticapitalist spectrum that certainly isn’t limited by the number of houses it squats, our knowledge of or relationship to them has nothing to do with the science fiction movie that BIPE (Police Special Investigations Squad) and DIPOLCAR (Carabineros Police Intelligence Department) sold to Peña and his prosecutors, who are hungry for success, fame, and TV cameras. However, we are well aware that, no matter what, they’ll try to smear the prisoners and link them to any actions that take place. If there are no actions or bombings, they’ll say the prisoners are guilty and that’s why the bombings stopped. If there are actions and explosions, they’ll say it’s only to show that the prisoners are innocent. In the end, the new subversion and the new diffuse autonomous guerrilla war can’t be guided by what power thinks.

An entirely different matter is the recent attack carried out on a private house, which was followed by a communiqué containing a threat to attack a school. We completely reject that action. We won’t interpret it, we don’t understand it, and we don’t know what goal it hoped to achieve other than tainting anticapitalist struggle and rebellious ideas. We think it was either the work of police, parapolice squads engaging in false flag operations, or people with terrorist tendencies who made a serious mistake. Our actions, about which we won’t go into detail now so as to not make the work of the police or the prosecutor’s mob easier, have always had clear objectives and been carefully designed—based on the time, the location, and the physical characteristics of the chosen targets—to avoid injury to innocent people. We also attempt to limit the damage we cause to the targets we attack, and not to nearby homes. To us, actions are a means of propaganda, agitation, and sabotage. Sometimes they are a means of direct attack, but only when they respond to the murderous police who have killed our brothers and sisters here in the cities or on Mapuche territory, spinelessly shooting them in the back. We have no reason to beg forgiveness for wounded police or the damages to their buildings, because we are proud of ourselves and know that those wounds and damages are nothing compared to the valued lives of our brothers and sisters, which those bloodthirsty vermin brought to an end for a paltry salary from the owners of the country. The moral standards of subversives and revolutionaries can’t be compared with those of the police, and we therefore repeat that we have nothing to do with indiscriminate attacks on the civilian population. On the off chance that the people who attacked that private house chose it at random and come from the anticapitalist milieu, we think they should profoundly rethink their political orientation and their actions, which only benefit the enemy.

On a television program yesterday, Interior Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter theatrically asked how it was possible that we could coexist for so long with the injustice of people being in prison for not paying a fine. His words would have made us smile had they not been tinged with the shadow of death, coming from a person who supports the genocide of Arabs by Israel, which is where he learned many of his black arts. Prison is part of this system of death, exploitation, and oppression in which a privileged minority enjoy power and wealth while the rest of the population barely survives in a country with one of the world’s worst distributions of income, in a country where the police kill Mapuche, students, and subversive militants with with total impunity and the blessing of concertación politicians or the right, in this bloodstained police democracy. That’s the real tragedy. That’s the real injustice. Not so much that a person who doesn’t pay a fine goes to prison, which is certainly tragic and unjust, but that suit-and-tie terrorists make deals to raise the prices of medicine for pregnant women, children, and the elderly, who will never set foot in prison. Or that we will never see the murderers of Mapuche handcuffed, with media vultures asking them why they did it. No, that type of treatment is reserved for the poor. After all, it’s for the poor that prisons are built. Never will we see landowners pay for the immense damage their forests cause to communities: drying out the soil, preventing the spread of culture, hindering agriculture due to a lack of irrigation, paying the police to shoot children. That’s the real terrorism in this country, which moves its chess pieces to win approval for power stations that pollute nature and poison people, while earnest politicians are delighted to welcome the U.S. ambassador from the comfort of their very progressive presidential easy-chairs. Who are the terrorists? Are they not the same ones who applauded or looked the other way while people were being thrown into the sea, the same ones who are now party members in Mr. Hinzpeter’s coalition government?

To conclude, we offer some information to demonstrate the authenticity of our action and to show anticapitalists that we can all form action groups, that it’s in our hands, that we have never needed leaders or any ridiculous foreign financing. We carried out Friday’s action at night, and we were armed in case things got dicey. We left a bomb consisting of almost two kilos of black powder mixed with powdered aluminum inside an empty fire extinguisher. The charge had a detonation system comprising two cell phones (in case one failed), which provided the necessary energy through a connection to their respective vibrators. The bomb was set to detonate at 9:45 p.m. in an area where no one could have been hurt. It was a symbolic and propagandistic action to mark the first year of the Piñera government. We also claim responsibility for the bomb left in Vitacura near the Las Tranqueras Police Station in January, which sadly failed to explode due to a problem with its detonation system.

Finally, we call on everyone to fight more fiercely and take the streets on March 29, Young Combatant’s Day, to remember our dead and show with fire in the streets that we do not fear Piñera or Hinzpeter’s fascism. On March 22nd, anarchists in Vancouver, Canada – Occupied Coast Salish Territories, caused a disturbance at the Chilean Consulate and on the street outside. With this we send a strong embrace to our imprisoned companeros on hunger strike in $hile. 14 anarchists and comrades have been framed with conspiracy charges for incendiary explosive attacks against state and capitalist institutions. Nine began an indefinite hunger strike on February 21. Four Mapuche prisoners re-started hunger strike on March 15th.

In Vancouver, Five people shouted “For freedom! For Anarchy! Let the comrades go!”, banged on the locked door and threw leaflets in the hallway outside of the Consulate. Two people opened the door briefly to grab leaflets off the ground as we were leaving.

Meanwhile, on the street 16 floors below, a group unfurled a banner, wielded black flags and distributed leaflets. Three cops responding to a call from the consulate attempted to inform the group of their rights to protest and to locate a leader, but were met only with our cries for freedom and the chant “Cops, Pigs, Murderers”. We didn’t let our rights as “citizens” set the parameters for our actions, rather, these restrictions imposed by the State are what we seek to undermine through our struggle.

Later we reconvened to distribute information outside the Scotia Bank at Broadway and Commercial Drive. Drivers honked their horns in support and passers by showed interest. Canada’s Scotia Bank is expanding it’s investments in resource extraction on indigenous land in $hile. As Stephen McDonald, co-chief executive officer of the bank’s orgraniztion Scotia Capital put it, “We’re going to be more aggressive on that front over the coming years … We’ve been underinvested in the mining sector, so we made a commitment to growing it.” Mapuche people have been defending their land from the threat of mining for years, specifically in the Leu Leu Lake region.

As anarchists we fight to steal back the means of our existence and destroy the State and Capitalism. We act in solidarity with indigenous struggles for land and freedom as we fight against the same enemies and often share parallel goals.

The struggles of our companeros in prison is only isolated if we let it be so. Inside and outside the struggles continue.

The walls are breaking already with each act of solidarity!
